A suicide bomber has killed at least 61 people in an assault at an army staffing center in Baghdad. More than 125 additional people are said to have been upset in the blast. The harass comes two weeks previous to a U.S. deadline to remove its combat crowds from Iraq.
The bomber strike as hundreds of workers had gathered waiting to present their applications. It was not obvious how the attacker passed many checkpoints to reach the center, at the former Defense Ministry in the heart of the assets.
Bureaucrat accused al-Qaida in Iraq of preparation the blast, the deadliest in months. There has been no direct claim of blame. Insurgents had vowed to step up attacks during Ramadan, the Islamic month of religious devotion that began last week.
